Launch of New Lipitor Campaign by Pfizer

In the first week of April Pfizer Inc. will launch a new advertising campaign for its cholesterol lowering drug Lipitor.

Last year Merck and Co lost its patent on Zocor and other companies began promoting generic version of the drug over the Pfizer product so this has brought Lipitor under intense pressure since last June.

New Ad campaign will feature Dr. Robert Jarvik, inventor of artificial heart and add will run on television and in print media. Dr Jarvik will add information about lipitor and its new uses as approved by FDA recently.

FDA has approved use of Lipitor for 5 more health problems related to heart disease. The patent of Lipitor is going to expire in 2010 and till than Pfizer want to gain profit from this drug as much as they can.

Pfizer has not told about the budget for new ad Campaign for Lipitor.
