Cholesterol Lowering Drugs Reduces High Blood Pressure
10 Mar, 2007

Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick Researchers has done a study and they have revealed that patients using cholesterol lowering drugs get extra benefit from the statin drugs. Researchers have found that statins have a positive effect on blood pressure levels.

After using statin there was a drop in blood pressure and drop were 1.9 mmHg reductions in systolic blood pressure and 0.9 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure. People suffering from high blood pressure also noticed drop in blood pressure if treated with statins.

This research has proved that treatment with statins produce a small but significant reduction in blood pressure. The reduction in blood pressure level of people having high blood pressure is not very high but one can say that it is added bonus to them.

Statin users suffering from cholesterol and high blood pressure will have double benefits by using cholesterol lowering drugs.
