Statins and Parkinson Disease linked to each other.
15 Jan. 2007

Research done on Parkinson disease and statins (low level of cholesterol) has shown a strong link between them. This report was so worrying that US researcher's have started thorough research on this.

Team of researcher's at North Carolina University is planning to test thousand of people for getting accurate information about relation between Parkinson disease and low cholesterol level (LDL). It was said that statin drugs cause Parkinson disease.

For Several Years researchers are suggesting that people with abnormally low level of cholesterol or LDL are at higher risk of Parkinson's disease. It was also found that patients with low level of LDL cholesterol are three and a half times more likely to develop Parkinson's disease rather than individuals with higher level of LDL.

Thousands of people will undergo clinical trials to prove relation between statin drugs and Parkinson disease. It is not sure whether these trials will establish link between statin drugs and Parkinson's disease.
