14 Feb. 2007

Pfizer is fighting patent challenges against Ranbaxy in more than 17 countries. The final decision against all this is going to be declared by the end of this month. Pfizer is the manufacturer of best selling low cholesterol drug Lipitor. The patent of Pfizer's Lipitor is going to expire in 2010. Just to save uniqueness of its drug Pfizer is fighting cases against Ranbaxy.

Ranbaxy has launched generic version of Lipitor in West. They have launched generic lipitor "at risk". It is still not clear who is going to win the legal war, Pfizer or Ranbaxy.

Analysts have given there views and said that Denmark is not a big market and could serve Ranbaxy as a test market. The risks are not very high in Denmark as it is a small market. It is also clear that if injunction is not in the favor of Ranbaxy than they are liable to pay financial penalty to Pfizer.

The main reason behind Ranbaxy's confidence of launching Generic lipitor in Denmark is the favorable verdicts in Norway, Australia and Canada courts.

The introduction of Generic Lipitor drug in Denmark is the significant mark for Ranbaxy. The main aim of Ranbaxy is to bring affordable drugs to patients in Europe and other parts of the world. Generic versions of the drugs are much cheaper than the drugs.
