Lipitor Reduces Risk of Heart Failure

A study done on patients with coronary heart disease and consumption of statins drugs like Lipitor 80 mg by they have shown that Lipitor drug reduces the risk of heart failure.

The study was done on patients having heart disease who took Lipitor 80 mg and patients who took Lipitor 10 mg. According to this research the fact which came into light was that patients with heart failure taking 80 mg lipitor drug have less risk of hospitalization due to heart failure, compared to patients with coronary heart disease taking 10 mg of lipitor drug.

Lipitor reduces the risk of heart attacks, stokes and revascularization procedures.

Hospitalization of adults above 65 in United States due to heart problems is the major contributor to growing healthcare costs.

Heart Failure is a condition in which the heart muscle can not pump enough blood to keep up with the body's needs. Approximately 5 million Americans and 6.5 million Europeans suffer from heart disease.

Heart Failure among adults is increasing and the total cost of heart failure in the US in 2007 is $33.2 billion direct and $ 3 billion indirect cost.
