Studies have established the relation between the blood cholesterol content and probability of heart attacks for persons.

These oral tablets are available in the market in 10, 20, 40 or 80 mg strengths. The medicine is sold in some countries under names of Sortis, Torvast, Totalip, Tulip, Xarator or Liprimar etc.

Lipitor Drug, when taken orally, prevents cholesterol synthesis in the body and thus reduces the total amount of cholesterol, particularly the bad cholesterol in the body. This will in effect prevent hardening of the arteries which is the reason for heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular.

In order to get the best result from the medicine, the use of the medicine should be regular and should be supplemented with balanced low cholesterol diet and regular exercise. Always avoid fatty high cholesterol foods.

The medicine is very much effective in reducing bad cholesterol content which is the major reason for heart disease. However, you should continue your treatment with lipitor even your blood cholesterol level comes down with the use of the medicine. Always consult a doctor before using and while continuing the medicine.

The medicine should be taken under close monitoring of an experienced doctor. There are some suitability criteria of taking this medicine and also there are some side effects of the medicine which should be monitored by the doctor.

The medicine is not suitable for a pregnant or a lactating woman. Habit of drinking can not be continued with this medicine. Persons with renal or liver problems should consult the doctor before using Lipitor. The medicine may have some adverse effects if taken with other medicines. As such if you are under medication for other problems, consult a doctor before using lipitor.

Headache, sleeplessness, dizziness etc are the common Lipitor side effects. Also, liver related problem may occur in a few cases.
