Lipitor in Danger Zone

Lipitor, the drug that is supposed to be a boon for the high-risk heart patients, is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Pfizer had never thought that a drug, which is meant to protect the patients against the unexpected heart disease, has recently made the headlines for exactly the opposite reasons. It's the statins present in Lipitor that are giving all the nightmares to the patients.

Lipitor is prescribed by the doctors along with low cholesterol diet in patients with higher bad cholesterol levels. Lipitor is always meant to be a supplemental drug and regular exercise and low cholesterol diet are as important as the drug itself. Resultantly, if the drug is abused, i.e. either it is not strictly taken as prescribed by the doctor or overdosage or not following diet and exercise schedule, the Lipitor side effects are bound to ensue.

Some of the recent controversies and side effects of Lipitor in the recent past include, but not limited to -

Memory problems. Some patients taking Lipitor Drug have also complained of facing problems in concentrating on a task at hand. A technologist complained of having difficulties in concentrating on basic science and mathematics. In fact, the bad effects of Lipitor on brain and memory are swelling by the day. The patients are feeling as if they have been treated as guinea pigs by the company. The patients often fear they might be having Alzheimer's or brain tumor. In their panic, they hustled-bustled to the doctor and ask for clarifications, when in fact, they were just facing the adverse consequences of using Lipitor over a long period of time. Medically, the associated condition is known as Transient Global Amnesia (TGA), which is characterized by temporary loss of memory and could disturb routine life.

Body pain. The excessive use of Lipitor may also result in bodily pain in the head, neck and shoulders.

The Lipitor side effects are plenty but these can be minimized if proper care and precaution is exercised before taking the drug. Gather all the necessary basic information about the drug, its known side effects and contraindications etc. Only after complete knowledge, you should go ahead with consuming the drug on a regular basis.
