Clearing the Myths about High Blood Cholesterol

Should I skip seafood as I have high blood cholesterol?

Is cholesterol present in my body is harmful?
There are two types of blood cholesterol: LDL (the bad cholesterol) and HDL (the good cholesterol) with different functions. Large amount of LDL will deposit cholesterol on the artery walls that will form plaques. If these more plaques are formed then it will block blood flow. So, LDL is termed as bad cholesterol.

On the other hand, HDL, which is considered good, removes extra cholesterol and takes it to the liver that is then excreted. It can also remove some of the cholesterol already present on the artery walls. That's why, HDL is considered the good cholesterol as high levels of HDL in the blood can reduce chances the risk of heart disease.
